What’s the Solution?

It is well established that proper nutrition is critical for optimal health.

In fact, 6 out of the top 10 causes of death in the U. S. are diet related.

So it would be wise to consider the role that proper nutrition plays in our quest to fight disease and aging.

It is also well established that there are certain essential nutrients that our body must have.

Most of us are aware of essential amino acids, essential fatty acids and essential vitamins and minerals. Not as widely known, yet critical to optimal health are, antioxidants, phytosterols, digestive enzymes, & vitamins/minerals.

It has long been thought that the other major class of nutrients, carbohydrates (sugars), were only converted in the body as a source of energy. However, it has now been discovered that there are at least eight “sugars” or “saccharides” that are found on the surface of
every cell in our body that allow the body’s 600 trillion cells to recognize and communicate with one another.

These nutrients are known as glyconutrients”. The study of these nutrients and how they impact living systems is known as “glycobiology”.

Why Do Cells Need To Communicate?

For our cells to function properly, they must be:
• Fed
• Regulated
• Repaired
• Cleansed
• Defended and Protected

This process is absolutely critical for our immune system to function properly and for our body to remain healthy and not age prematurely. The “sugars” actually form a “cellular alphabet” that allows our body’s cells to “talk”.

Just as 4 basic shapes are used to form the letters of our alphabet, 8 sugars on the surface of our body’s cells form a complex “cellular alphabet” which allows our body’s cells to communicate and recognize one another.

1996 Harper’s Biochemistry identified eight sugars needed for cell-to-cell communication:

- Glucose
- Xylose
- Mannose
- Galactose

- Fucose
- N-acetylglucosamine
- N-acetylgalactosamine
- N-acetylneuraminic acid

Vol. 24. 1996

Just as it is well documented that we no longer get the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals in the food we eat, it is also been established that we only get sufficient amounts of two of these eight sugars in our modern American diets.

Could this be a reason that all degenerative diseases are on the increase?

We are told that we all have cancer cells in our body. What happens if cancer cells are not recognized as foreign cells and thus allowed to grow? You know the result all too well => tumor => death!

What happens if our body doesn’t recognize itself as self and begins to attack and destroy itself? This is apparently what happens in autoimmune diseases. Both are cases of mistaken identity, but the result to you is the same - a serious disease or even death.

We can have all the necessary vitamins and minerals, amino acids and fatty acids available in our body; but if the cells of our body cannot communicate properly, they cannot function effectively.

A Glycoprotein Structure:

Key:

Blue “egg shaped” forms = cell membrane

Brown forms = proteins

Green “chain-like” form = sugars

Cells do not have “telepathic” abilities. They must actually come in contact with each other via these sugars in order to communicate their needs and
recognize one another.

These sugars have been shown to be:

• Anti-fungal
• Anti-viral
• Anti-bacterial
• Anti-allergenic
• Anti-tumor (inhibit tumor growth)
• Anti-inflammatory

We also know that 5 of the 8 sugars are found in mother’s breast milk.

A Problem:

Unfortunately we only get sufficient amounts of two of the necessary eight sugars in our modern diets. Poor soil, hybridization, genetically modified seeds, green harvest and processing of our food are primary reasons for the nutrient deficiencies we see today.

A Solution:

Fortunately our body was created with a “back-up” plan and can manufacture the missing six sugars from the two we get in our diet; however, this occurs at a great cost. The conversion process is complicated. During the conversion process your cells are exposed to tens of thousands of free radical hits each day. This requires time, energy and a host of other micronutrients in order to complete the conversion. Viruses can also interfere with our body’s ability to make these conversions. People who are ill or who have inborn errors of metabolism are especially vulnerable to a breakdown in the process. Whenever the monosaccharides cannot be made, communication is slowed down or impaired and as a result, disease and premature aging are likely.

A Better Solution:

In 1996, a product was developed that supplies these essential sugars or their precursors.
This product is the surest way to ensure that your body is getting the necessary nutrients to allow it to protect you from aging and disease.
